Today was the second half of the bee class, that was rescheduled due to weather. It was a beautiful sunny day, and the weather stayed nice the whole time. We had a wonderful pot luck lunch, and we thank anyone that brought food to share. We opened up the hives and were able to see the brood, queen cells both old and new. We also found drones and the queen’s in several of the hives and as a special treat, we even watched as they did a split on a hive. After the opening of the hives, we held the drawing for the three nucs, congrats to all the winners.
Ready? Set? Go?
What types of bees do you see in this picture? Are they workers? Drones? Queen? And what type of you think they are. Russian? Itallian? Carolina?
