American Beekeeping Federation Membership

On behalf of the American Beekeeping Federation, I would like to offer you and your association one of the greatest opportunities available to learn more about bees and beekeeping. The American Beekeeping Federation is offering its members dozens of new educational benefits for small scale, sideline, and commercial beekeepers throughout the US. We are reaching out to you and your association to let you know that we offer many ways to further your membership’s beekeeping education though some of the most knowledgeable beekeepers in the country, and all from the convenience of your home. We also host the annual North American Beekeeping Conference and Tradeshow, which is the largest national beekeeping conference in the USA, and will be hosted in Baton Rouge LA this year.
One of our primary goals at ABF is simply to help educate beekeepers in the art of beekeeping. We sincerely want to help you, and provide you with whatever you need in your association’s beekeeping journey. We want to see bees and beekeepers thrive for decades to come.
I am sure you know we face challenging times in our industry. Colony Collapse Disorder, the ever increasing use of damaging pesticides, new diseases and pests, tainted imported honey and ever disappearing forage for bees are all plaguing our bees and beekeepers. As we at the ABF face these challenges, we are forever reminded of the necessity of banding together as beekeepers to preserve this industry, sideline job and hobby for generations to come. By supporting ABF, you are directly furthering that cause, and aiding beekeepers around the country.
We are reaching out to regional, state and local clubs/associations across the United States offering our support and educational programs. We respectfully ask that you would simply forward the attached e-mail to your association members. We hope those individuals will consider joining the American Beekeeping Federation. We have also included in that letter dozens of ways being an ABF member benefits the beekeeper.
Thank you very much for your time and concern regarding this matter. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us. Have a wonderful day!

April Meeting

Bee Class- Saturday April 6th.

Today was the second half of the bee class, that was rescheduled due to weather.  It was a beautiful sunny day, and the weather stayed nice the whole time.  We had a wonderful pot luck lunch, and we thank anyone that brought food to share.  We opened up the hives and were able to see the brood, queen cells both old and new.  We also found drones and the queen’s in several of the hives and as a special treat, we even watched as they did a split on a hive.    After the opening of the hives, we held the drawing for the three nucs, congrats to all the winners.

Photo Challenge- Name that type of bee.

Ready? Set? Go?

What types of bees do you see in this picture? Are they workers? Drones? Queen?  And what type of you think they are. Russian? Itallian? Carolina?
